A Note From the Groom

Mak and I met on April 11, 2018 at a fraternity party at the University of Colorado, Boulder – both of us 19 years old. If you would have told me that we would be getting married 7ish years later, I would have said you were crazy (to say I was swinging out of my league is an understatement…). Fast forward to our first date, Hana Sushi, where we (may or may not have) had a few saki bombs and ended the night with a McDonald’s order, I knew she was the one! At the end of Freshman year, we head out for summer break. It wasn’t long before we had planned trips to see each other.

Luckily, my job as a surf instructor in Newport Beach, CA and hers as a golf course beer cart girl in Westminster, CO were flexible and paid for our travels (did not save much that summer). First, she visited Newport, where we ate Ho Sum Bistro on a lifeguard tower (“Tower G”, where we would share our first kiss, become boyfriend and girlfriend, and take engagement photos – see above), road bikes to the beach, etc. (had to bring out all of the heavy hitters). Before long, I was in CO meeting the Wolz family and Mak planned a camping trip up in the mountains (20-minutes from where we will tie the knot), still an all-time memory. By the end of that Summer, we were going back to school in love.

I could not have imagined being so lucky as to call Makenzie Wolz my wife (still a few months out, so knock on wood!), or that we would be celebrating it with the awesome group of people who are making the trip to Beano’s Cabin – thank you in advance!

From meeting at college party to getting down on a knee on a cloudy, beautiful beach in Carmel, CA and everything in between (living together while studying abroad in Madrid, moving to New York post-graduation, traveling through Asia, settling down in Los Angeles, and so much more), we cannot wait to celebrate our love with family and friends on June 21, 2025 (the same day we got engaged one year prior!)
